Hospitals & Healthcare: Issues and Implications - CANCELLED

The MAGNY Board has been monitoring the coronavirus public health situation in recent days.  In light of Governor Cuomo’s declaration of a state of emergency, the number of positive cases in the New York City area, and the recently reported positive case at the Citizen’s Budget Commission dinner, we are cancelling this Friday’s luncheon at the Yale Club.

All registrants will be afforded a 100% refund and we will soon announce a rescheduling of the event to take place sometime in the next few months.

The MAGNY Board does not take this action lightly but felt strongly that everyone’s personal health should take precedence.  The Board is committed to honoring our program schedule in April, May, and June and will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation.

Thank you for your understanding and we wish our members and their families good health.

With best regards,

Michael Imber
MAGNY Chairman

Details:

The healthcare industry is facing disruption, with new business models upending traditional hospitals in terms of competition and patient care. Our panelists will provide various perspectives on current trends, highlighting the impact of the shifting cost of care to lower reimbursement settings from an academic research, business development, and large insurer/provider lens. Where is the healthcare industry today and where is it going in the future? How does a large health system take risk across populations while managing the total cost of care? How are utilization trends affected as consumers seek more convenient care? Where do AI and telemedicine fit into the industry’s future?

Moderator:

Anne Cosgrove, Director in S&P Global’s not-for-profit healthcare group will be moderating the panel.

Speakers:

Sarah Haflett, PWC, Director and Research Leader, will focus on industry wide cost deflation trends as new disruptors fill every aspect of the healthcare landscape and patients seek more convenient care.

Richard Miller, Northwell Health, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Strategy Officer, will discuss how a large healthcare system continues to disrupt its traditional business model while maintaining quality and managing risk across populations.

Zack Sopcak, UnitedHealth Group, Vice President, Investor Relations, will provide insights on the shift to lower cost settings from an insurance and provider perspective.

Cancel Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
